Our Assessment: The Remington M1903A3 adapted the Springfield service rifle for wartime production through simplified components and a receiver-mounted aperture sight. This example dates to approximately January 1943 and carries a December 1942 Remington barrel, a combination consistent with its early production period. The stock’s FJA acceptance and boxed OG arsenal markings document both wartime inspection and subsequent arsenal handling, adding context to its military history.
This rifle retains approximately 97% of its current Parkerized finish, with a greenish tone, scattered scratches, thinning, and freckling. The walnut stock shows handling marks without chips or cracks and remains in Fine condition. The bright bore has well-defined rifling, no erosion, and light fouling, rating 8 out of 10. The action functions correctly, and a canvas sling accompanies the rifle. Overall, it presents in Very Good condition.
