Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “LEFT arrow” twice with “WRIGHT”. The elevation knob is marked from 2-12 in increments of 2 with “WCE”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The wood stock has a traditional Semi-pistol grip, metal nose caps, two sling loops, stacking ring, and a checkered metal butt plate with storage compartment. The LOP measures 13” inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt plate. This replacement stock set shows minor handling and some very small scattered surface level lines and compressions. There are no cracks. There is one small chip missing from the left edge of the belly just in front of the bottom metal. There is some rube wear on the leading edge of the pommel. The butt plate has been refinished and shows rub wear and pitting under the refinish. The checkering is worn. The door spring is strong and functions correctly. Overall the wood on this rifle is in about Very Good+ condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is well defined. There is some very minor visible erosion mainly on the edges of the grooves throughout the bore. According to our gauges the muzzle reads at a 2+, the throat erosion reads at a 4. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 7/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 92% of its metal finish. The friction surfaces of the bolt and receiver show rub wear. The finish has turned green with age in many places. The cylinder, cylinder lock and gas plug show the majority of the finish loss. Mainly the right side of the cylinder. The action is smooth, the markings are clear, and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in about Good+-Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes a green canvas sling.
Our Assessment: This M1 Garand was produced by Springfield Armory in June 1944, during the height of World War II when Garand production was at its peak to supply American forces fighting across Europe and the Pacific. The rifle is currently fitted with a Springfield barrel dated September 1948, indicating it was re-barreled during a postwar arsenal refurbishment when many service rifles were updated and prepared for continued military use during the early Cold War years.
The rifle is fitted with a replacement stock set, a common occurrence as Garands passed through arsenal maintenance programs over their long service lives. Adopted by the U.S. military in 1936, the M1 Garand became the standard American infantry rifle of World War II and Korea, giving U.S. troops a significant advantage with its semi-automatic fire and 8-round en-bloc clip system. The rifle earned legendary praise from George S. Patton, who famously described the M1 Garand as “the greatest battle implement ever devised,” a testament to its reliability, firepower, and historic impact on modern infantry combat.
