Our Assessment: The German K98 rifle, also known as the Mauser K98, was a standard infantry rifle used by the German military during World War II. It was developed by the German arms manufacturer Mauser and was based on the earlier G98 rifle. The K98 was a bolt-action rifle that was chambered for the 7.92x57mm cartridge and had a 5-round internal magazine.
The rifle was highly regarded for its accuracy and reliability, and it became one of the most widely used rifles of the war. In addition to its use by German soldiers, the K98 was also supplied to various countries as part of military aid and was used by several Axis and some Allied powers.
After the war, the K98 saw service with the armed forces of several countries, including Portugal, Spain, and Greece, and it remained in use for several decades. Today, the K98 is a popular collectible among firearms enthusiasts and is widely sought after by military collectors.

This matching WWII German K98 was made at the Mauser Oberndorf factory in Germany back in 1941. It most likely saw action during WWII. The rifle has since been refinished. There is no visible import mark.
This K98 has nice markings on the metal that include eagle / swastika stamps as well as matching numbers on the metal parts and stock. The stock is marked on the bottom of the butt and under the handguard. The buttplate is a replacement that was force matched to the serial number during a rebuild.
