Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902. / DEC. 19, 1905. FEB. 14, 1911/ COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”. The frame is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” and “No 449864.” The right side of the slide is marked “MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY.”
Barrel Length: 5 Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed blade. The rear sight is a U-notch dovetailed to the slide.
Grip Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece, checkered walnut. They show light handling wear with well-defined checkering and small handling marks. The grips rate in about Very Good overall condition.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: One 7-round .45 ACP magazine in Good condition, showing light wear consistent with age and use.
Type of Finish: Parkerized
Finish Originality: Refinished
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright, and the rifling is well-defined. There is no significant erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 85% of its current Parkerized finish. The balance of the finish shows light handling wear with areas of thinning on the high points. The slide shows some minor scratches, and the frame has light edge wear. There is pitting throughout the slide under the parkerized finish. The screw heads are unmarred and serviceable. The markings are sharp and clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Colt 1911 US Army pistol is a World War I-era military sidearm with historical significance.
