Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER – MODEL 12 – 20 GA. – 2 3/4 CHAM. / WINCHESTER TRADEMARK – MADE IN U.S.A. – PAT. NO. 1912403 / WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL.” The barrel and receiver both bear Winchester proof marks. The serial number “1248267” is located on the receiver and the barrel extension.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass bead mounted on the barrel as well as a steel mid bead.. The rib and receiver are serrated to reduce glare while aiming.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is 2 piece wood featuring a fluted straight comb, plastic buttplate, checkered and capped semi pistol grip and checkered forend. The LOP is 13.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are some light handling marks. There is a chip on the right side of the forend. There are no cracks. The wood appears to have been refinished The stock rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writers opinion the bore rates 9/10
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 80% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light handling wear, scattered small scratches, and areas of finish thinning on the barrel and receiver. The screw heads are sharp, and the markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 12 is a classic pump-action shotgun chambered in 20 gauge. Manufactured in 1949, this shotgun is C&R eligible and displays the quality craftsmanship for which Winchester is renowned.
