Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 94 is one of the most recognizable and historically significant lever-action rifles in American history. Designed by John Browning and introduced in 1894, this rifle became a staple for hunters and outdoorsmen alike. Chambered in .30-30 Winchester, the Model 94 became one of the first commercially available smokeless powder cartridges, making it a favorite for deer hunters across North America. This example, manufactured in 1958, remains a highly desirable piece, both as a collector’s item and a functional hunting rifle.
What makes this rifle truly special is the extensive floral engraving covering the barrel bands, receiver, lever, top tang, and cartridge compartment. Additionally, the hidden cartridge compartment is a unique feature not commonly found on these rifles, adding a practical and aesthetically interesting component to the firearm. The craftsmanship of the metalwork and embellishments make this rifle stand out among its peers.
