Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “-WINCHESTER MODEL 70 .308 WIN ONLY- / -WINCHESTER IS A REGISTERED TRADEMARK OF OLIN CORPORATION-”. The top of the barrel is marked with an ovalled “WP” proof. The left side of the receiver is marked “WINCHESTER ”. The right side of the receiver at the chamber is marked “35GZT09677”. The floorplate is marked, “SUPER GRADE”.  The right side of the barrel is marked, “MODEL 70 SUPER GRADE IMPORTED BY. BACO INC., MORGAN, UTAH / MADE IN PORTUGAL BY BROWNING VIANA”.  The buttpad is marked, “Decelerator”.

Barrel Length: 22? round.

Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped and filled for scope base provisions.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered AAAA Maple with Ebony cap and  a capped traditional pistol grip, fluted straight comb with cheek piece, black rubber Decelerator buttpad, and sling studs front and rear.  The checkering is SHARP. There are no chips, cracks, or nicks. The LOP measures 13.75? from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The pad has no visible wear. Overall, the stock is in Excellent condition.  The Bolt is a Control Round Feed Bolt which is a Pre ‘64 style bolt.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: Internal 4+1 magazine with hinged floorplate.

Bore Condition: The bore is mirror bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.  This rifle appears unfired.  In the opinion of the writer the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. This rifle is in near pristine condition.  There are some very faint loose storage marks. The bluing is gorgeous and free of any visible wear or thinning.    The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This rifle employs a push feed bolt. The safety is mounted at the back of the bolt on the right side. It has three positions. Pushed all the way forwards, the safety is off and ready to fire. In the middle position, the safety blocks the trigger, but allows the bolt to be opened for loading and unloading. In the rear position, the safety blocks the trigger and the bolt. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Chambered in .308 Win, this Super Grade rifle has high tier stopping power to deal with any big game you may come across in your hunting adventures. This Model 70 is a modern pre-1964 style production Model, as such it has a Controlled Round Feed Bolt style bolt instead of the Post’64 Push Feed Bolt style with ejector pin.
