The stock has only a few light marks, most notable at the rear of the cheekpiece. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad. The pad has scattered wear and discoloration, it has hardened some with age. Overall, the stock is in Fine-plus condition.
Type of Finish: Blued

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion, but there is some stubborn copper fouling at the muzzle-end. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The bolt is missing. The balance of finish is mostly in scattered patches of surface erosion. The receiver shows minor operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Very Good condition as missing its bolt
Mechanics: The bolt is missing. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: Hemingway said of firearms, “The rifle and the pistol are still the equalizer when one man is more of a man than another,” Holding this Model 70 in hand, it’s hard to deny the logic. The Winchester Model 70 is an iconic American sporting rifle which has been a staple of hunters—and even writers such as Hemingway—for more than 80 years. This example is a Classic Super Grade with a blued finish, 22” barrel, and checkered monte-carlo comb stock. This example is missing its bolt and has some surface erosion on the exterior surfaces, but retains a quite nice bore. With a replacement bolt, this will make for a great safari rifle that will drop just about any animal on the planet. Good luck and happy bidding!
