Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows thinning of the finish throughout the barrel, and on the floorplate & trigger guard. The bolt shows operational wear, though the jeweling is mostly visible. There are light scratches and imperfections throughout all of the metal surfaces, but the finish is largely intact otherwise. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are lightly tooled, but retain strong and serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its factory box, its scope and scope cover as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: Winchester’s Model 70 Classic Super Express was built as a serious big-game version of the “Rifleman’s Rifle,” pairing controlled round feed actions, with classic Model 70 handling, express sights, robust magnum chamberings, and traditional safari rifle styling. This example is chambered in .416 Remington Magnum, a powerful dangerous game cartridge designed to deliver heavy performance for large and dangerous game while fitting in a standard magnum-length action. This rifle features a 24″ threaded barrel with tightly installed thread protector, express rear sight, beaded front sight, checkered walnut stock, barrel-mounted front sling stud, aftermarket magazine follower allowing 4-cartridge capacity, and a German Zeiss Diavari V 1.5-6×42 scope with clear glass. The Classic Super Express configuration, .416 Rem. Mag. chambering, excellent bore, quality Zeiss optic, and traditional walnut-and-blue presentation should appeal to hunters and collectors looking for a capable safari-style Model 70 with serious field pedigree.

This rifle rates in Very Good overall condition, retaining about 85% of its original blued finish. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10 in this writer’s opinion. The walnut stock rates in Very Good condition, showing light scratches and moderate dings, most notably on the bottom of the forend, while retaining intact finish, well-defined checkering, tight fit to the barreled action, and no chips or cracks. The metal shows finish thinning throughout the barrel, floorplate, and trigger guard, along with light scratches and handling imperfections, though the finish remains largely intact overall. The bolt shows operational wear while the jeweling remains mostly visible, the Zeiss scope rates in Very Good condition with light exterior wear, the markings are clear and legible, and the screw heads are lightly tooled but serviceable. The action and safety function correctly, and the rifle includes the mounted scope and original Zeiss scope cover as described.
