Sights/Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope. There is a Redfield 3-9×40 scope. We cannot guarantee the functionality of optics.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The stock is one piece checkered walnut with a capped pistol grip, fluted straight comb, Winchester rubber buttpad, and two sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. There are light scratches and handling marks throughout. There is a white scuff by the toe. Overall, the stock is in about Very Good to Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is light fouling. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its original finish. There is light handling and operational wear. There is no major damage. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety mounted on the rear of the bolt. Pulled to the rear, the safety is ON, locking both the bolt and the trigger. If pulled back half-way, it blocks only the trigger. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 Classic Featherweight represents the return to the controlled round feed design that made the pre 64 Model 70 famous among American hunters. Produced in New Haven during the 1990s into the early 2000s, the Classic line restored the Mauser style claw extractor and three position safety while maintaining modern manufacturing standards. The Featherweight configuration pairs a lighter contour 22 inch barrel with a sleek walnut stock, resulting in a trim, well balanced sporting rifle. This example retains approximately 97 percent of its original blued finish, showing only light handling and operational wear, with sharp screw heads and crisp markings, presenting overall in Excellent condition.
Chambered in .270 Winchester, introduced in 1925, this cartridge became one of the most celebrated big game rounds in North America due to its flat trajectory and dependable performance on deer and similar sized game. The internal hinged floorplate magazine maintains the traditional sporting profile while offering convenient unloading. The bore on this rifle is bright with sharp rifling, free from erosion and showing only light fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, reflecting strong internal condition.

Mechanically, the action functions correctly and the three position safety operates as designed.
