Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into a serrated ramp with a protective hood. The rear sight is a flip up U notch with a white triangle. Mounted to the top of the receiver is a Weaver scope. The reticle is a fine crosshair, the sight picture is clear.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a 1 piece walnut stock, Monte Carlo style buttstock with raised cheek rest, checkered steel buttplate, checkered semi pistol grip, 2 sling mounts, 1 in the belly of the buttstock and 1 in the bottom of the forend with a leather sling mounted in them, and a checkered forend. The LOP is 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. There are several scratches and compression marks. There are no chips or cracks. The stock rates in Good Overall condition

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is defined. There is light erosion and fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 7/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. There are scratches on the receiver and barrel. There is finish loss on the muzzle. The screwheads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 is an iconic American sporting rifle which has been a staple of hunters for more than 80 years. This example is a Classic model chambered for .270 Win making it ideal for taking down deer and antelope. This is a solid hunting rifle and already mounted with a scope so it’s ready for the field.
