Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, 17 rib forend, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate shows light finish wear and oxidation. The furniture shows light wear with a few pressure dings and surface scratches. The LOP measures about 13.25″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 92% of its metal finish. The finish is strong with light edge wear and spots of freckling. There are fairly light handling and operational marks. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 61 was manufactured in 1951 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester, the Model 61 was introduced in 1932 as the successor to the Models 1890 and 1906 and quickly became one of the most refined pump action rimfire rifles of the mid-20th century. Known for its smooth cycling and durable construction, the Model 61 earned a strong following among hunters and recreational shooters.
Chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle reflects the classic rimfire pump configuration that offered versatility across common .22 cartridges. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10, indicating exceptional internal condition. The action functions correctly.
This rifle retains approximately 92 percent of its metal finish, presenting a strong overall appearance with light, age-appropriate wear. The furniture rates in Fine condition with minimal visible handling marks. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition and stands as a well-preserved example of a 1951 Winchester Model 61.
