Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Redfield Olympic globe sight dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a Redfield Olympic adjustable aperture screwed into the left side of the receiver. There are two scope bases screwed into the barrel, though no optic is present.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is one-piece wood with a cheekpiece, thumb-hole pistol grip, smooth forend, and a hooked metal buttplate. The buttplate shows little handling wear. The furniture shows light wear with some scattered dings and surface scratches. The LOP measures about 13.5″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with faint fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The finish is strong with only a few minor scratches and freckling. There are light handling and operational marks. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 52 Type C was manufactured in 1954 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester, the Model 52 had long earned its reputation as the “King of the .22s” in American target shooting circles. The Type C variant represented a refined competition configuration during the postwar period and was widely used in smallbore matches.
Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 28 inch barrel, this rifle reflects the classic heavy-barrel target configuration associated with mid-20th century competition rifles. It is equipped with Redfield Olympic target sights, a highly regarded sighting system for precision shooting. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition. The action functions correctly.
