Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1901 is the successor to the earlier Model 1887, redesigned to handle smokeless powder loads. John Browning improved his original design to reinforce the frame, making the 1901 a robust and reliable lever-action shotgun for its time.
Chambered for 10-gauge, the Model 1901 was primarily marketed for sporting and law enforcement purposes, particularly favored for its ability to handle powerful loads with ease. Its lever-action mechanism set it apart from conventional break-action shotguns, offering a unique and highly recognizable profile.
This particular example has seen use but remains mechanically sound, making it a great candidate for collectors of vintage Winchester firearms or enthusiasts looking to own a piece of lever-action shotgun history. Please see our high-quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
