Markings: The bottom of the barrel and receiver is marked “888977.” The left side of the barrel is marked “MODEL 97 WINCHESTER TRADE MARK 12 GA FULL.” The right side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN U.S.A WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO NEW HAVEN CONN. PAT NOV. 25, 90. DEC. 6, 92. JULY, 21, 96. FEB. 22, 98. JUNE, 14, 98. OCT. 16, 1900. DEC. 25, 06. JULY, 5, 10.” The top of the barrel and receiver bear Winchester proofs.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass bead.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a two-piece wood configuration with a fluted straight comb, a serrated forend, and a ventilated aftermarket rubber buttpad. There are two sling mounts, one on the belly of the buttstock and the other attached to the barrel, with a leather sling mounted to them. The length of pull measures 13-1/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the wood and 14-1/4” to the back of the buttpad. The stock appears to have been refinished, and the aftermarket buttpad does not seat flush with the buttstock. There are light scratches present, but there are no chips or cracks. The stock rates in Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished.
Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright. There is moderate erosion and fouling in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 7.5/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 85% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows operational wear on the magazine tube and bolt. There is light surface rust on the magazine tube and barrel. The screw heads are sharp, and the markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
