Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned to a square base integral to the barrel. The rear sight is a ladder sight dovetailed to the barrel presenting a fixed V-notch when down and a sliding u-notch when up. The tang is drilled, tapped, and filled for a tang sight (none present).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is two piece smooth walnut, banded forend, straight grip, straight comb, and steel shotgun style carbine buttplate. The LOP is 13″ from trigger to buttplate. The stock has been refinished. There are scratches and compression dents throughout. There are no chips or cracks. Overall this stock is in Good condition as refinished.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is light erosion. There is light fouling. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 15% of its finish. The majority of the metal has worn to brown patina with corrosion staining. There is still some bluing in some protected areas. There are scratches and handling marks throughout. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine, manufactured in 1912 and chambered in .32-20 W.C.F., is a C&R-eligible lever-action carbine with classic early 20th-century Winchester appeal. The 20″ barrel, half-length tubular magazine, straight-grip walnut stock, banded forend, steel shotgun-style carbine buttplate, and barrel-mounted ladder rear sight give it a practical and desirable sporting-carbine profile. The barrel, tang, and receiver markings are clear, and the tang is drilled, tapped, and filled for a tang sight, though no tang sight is currently installed.
The bore is a strong feature of this example, described as bright with sharp rifling, light erosion, and light fouling, rating 8/10 in the writer’s opinion. Mechanically, the action functions correctly, the hammer has its half-cock safety position, and the trigger is crisp, though the rifle has not been test fired. The metal condition shows significant age and use, with only about 15% of the original blue finish remaining. Most surfaces have worn to a brown patina with corrosion staining, scratches, and handling marks, though some bluing remains in protected areas. The sharp screw heads and clear markings are notable positives.
The walnut stock has been refinished and shows scattered scratches and compression dents, but there are no chips or cracks, keeping it in Good condition as refinished. The refinished wood and heavy finish loss prevent this from being a high-condition collector example, but the rifle still retains strong vintage Winchester character, functional mechanics, and a respectable bore.
