Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER / Model 1885 -“, and “Caliber 38-55 Win. ONLY”. The left side of the barrel is marked “Made by Miroku – Japan – Imported by BACO, Inc. – Morgan, Utah / Winchester is a registered trademark of Olin Corporation.” The serial number is marked on the right side of the receiver.

Sights / Optics: The rifle is equipped with a folding rear tang sight and a beaded blade front sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle has a checkered walnut stock and forearm with a straight grip and a crescent steel buttplate. The wood has a smooth finish with minimal handling marks. The checkering remains crisp. The LOP measures approximately 13.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore but there is light stubborn fouling throughout. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows minor handling wear. The case coloring on the receiver remains vibrant. The screw heads are sharp, and the markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
