Action Type: Top-Break Over/Under Shotgun with Single Selective Trigger (Inertial) and Ejectors.
Markings: The left side of the top barrel is marked “WINCHESTER MODEL 101 XTR “Water Fowl”– 12GA – 3” / WINCHOKE TM – EAST ALTON IL. U.S.A.”, the right side is marked “MADE IN JAPAN”. The left of the monoblock top barrel is marked “W/C”, the bottom “W/C.” and each with an ovalled “WP” proof. The bottom of the bottom barrel is marked “WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”. The bottom of the monoblock is marked “470985” AND “12-3”. The top of the forend iron is marked “470985”, and the wood inside of the forend is marked “0985”. The top tang is marked “K470985E” and “S U O”. The receiver, trigger guard, exposed portions of the forend iron and the barrel shoulders have decorative scroll and waterfowl engraving. The recoil pad is marked “WINCHESTER TRADEMARK”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “WINCHESTER”.
Barrel Length: 32” With Ventilated Rib.
Choke: WinChoke interchangeable choke system. Currently installed Extra Full over Modified.
Sights / Optics: There is a fixed white bead at the front of the rib and a smaller white mid-bead. The top of the rib is finely checkered to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with full length finger shelf forend, fluted straight comb, capped semi-pistol grip and brown rubber vented Winchester buttpad. The stock has several small depressions and lines. With a very small triangular punch mark on the left side near the receiver and a small dent on the belly of the stock that has marred the finish. The forend has two small depressions on the left side and a small rub mark near the end. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14? from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The pad has almost no wear and is semi pliable. Overall, the stocks are in Very Good to Excellent condition for the age.

Bore Condition: The smooth bores mirror bright with no visible scratches or fouling. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bores rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is wear under the safety selector, a small ding on the grip cap, there is also some barely visible wear to the barrels but nothing noteworthy is present. There is some very light rub wear from the forend on the upper barrel. The markings are clear and the screw heads sharp. Overall, this shotgun is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrels lock up to the receiver with no play. The safety does not engage automatically when the action is opened, and does function properly when engaged manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
