Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 101 Field was manufactured during the 1970s by Olin-Kodensha and is a classic 20-gauge over-under renowned for its quality, reliability, and graceful handling. It features 26.5-inch barrels with 3-inch chambers and fixed Modified and Improved Cylinder chokes, an ideal combination for upland hunting or sporting clays. The Improved Cylinder barrel excels on close flushing birds, while the Modified barrel offers tighter patterns for longer crossing shots, giving the shooter excellent versatility without the need for interchangeable choke tubes. The shotgun is stocked with attractive walnut furniture featuring a full finger-shelf forend and a capped semi-pistol grip stock that offers both classic styling and a comfortable, secure hold. The Model 101 earned its reputation as one of the finest production over-under shotguns of its era thanks to its strong action, excellent balance, and superb Japanese craftsmanship. Whether carried through the uplands in pursuit of pheasants and quail or broken open on the sporting clays course, this 1970s Winchester 101 Field remains a timeless sporting shotgun that continues to perform as well today as it did when it left the factory.
