Markings: The left side of the top barrel is marked “MODEL 101 – WINCHESTER – 20 GAUGE-2 ¾” & 3” / MADE IN JAPAN”. The right side of the upper barrel “WINCHESTER / NEW HAVEN, CONN.”. The left of the monoblock top barrel is marked “MOD”, the bottom “IMP. CYLD” and each with an ovalled “WP” and “SP” proof. The right side of the barrels just in front of the monoblock is marked “H63” over “H64”. The lug on the base of the block is marked “5NK”. The bottom of the bottom barrel is marked “WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”. The bottom of the monoblock is marked “P / B / 217966” and “20-3”. The top of the forend iron is marked “217966”, the inside of the forend iron is marked “217966”, and the wood inside of the forend is marked “217966” with two Japanese characters. The top tang is marked “K217966” and “S U O”. The receiver, trigger guard, exposed portions of the forend iron and the barrel shoulders have decorative scroll engraving. The recoil pad is marked “WINCHESTER TRADEMARK”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “OlinKodensha / Co. Ltd”.
Barrel Length: 26.5” With Ventilated Rib.
Choke: Fixed Choke barrels Modified over Improved Cylinder.
Sights / Optics: There is a fixed mushroom style brass bead at the front of the rib and a smaller mushroom style mid-bead. The top of the rib is finely checkered to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with full length finger shelf forend, fluted straight comb, capped semi-pistol grip and black plastic checkered Winchester buttplate. The stock has several small depressions and lines. With a small scuff on the comb and a series of small impressions 2”s behind the start of the comb. There is a scratch near the receiver on the right side of the grip. There are some small scrapes and depressions on the forend with one notable dent and scratch on the belly. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14? from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt plate. The plate has scuffs around the entire edge of the plate, there are no chips or cracks and the checkering is sharp. Overall, the stocks are in Very Good to Excellent condition for the age.

Bore Condition: The smooth bores are bright with minor visible scratches and some fouling. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bores rates 8.5/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is wear under the safety selector, there is also some barely visible wear to the barrels but nothing noteworthy is present. There is some light rub wear from the forend on the upper and lower barrel from where the forend rubs. There is also some rust freckling in the blueing towards the muzzle and under the takedown lever. The markings are clear and the screw heads sharp. Overall, this shotgun is in about Very Good to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrels lock up to the receiver with no play. The safety does not engage automatically when the action is opened, and does function properly when engaged manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
