Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1895 was John M. Browning’s final lever-action design for Winchester and departed from the company’s traditional tubular-magazine rifles by using a fixed box magazine capable of safely handling pointed bullets. The design saw both sporting and military use and was offered in several powerful cartridges, including the .30-40 Krag. This modern Miroku-built example preserves the distinctive lines and robust action of the original while adding contemporary safety features and modern manufacturing quality.
