Our Assessment: The Winchester 1885 Takedown Shotgun is a rare and innovative variation of the iconic single-shot Model 1885 rifle, designed by John Browning. Featuring a robust falling-block action, it was adapted with a takedown mechanism that allowed the shotgun to be easily disassembled into two main components, making it highly portable and convenient for hunters and travelers, catering to a wide range of shooting needs, from upland game hunting to sport shooting. Its durable construction and elegant simplicity made it a reliable choice for users, while its limited production and unique design have made it a prized collectible today.
