Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER MODEL 94AE XTR CAL. 30-30 WIN. / -MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL-“. The top of the barrel at the rear has an ovalled “WP” proof. The bottom of the receiver is marked with the serial number to the left of the lever plate. The right side of the buttstock has an inlaid 1985 Chevy Outdoorsman Winchester medallion with the Chevrolet logo in the center.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a hooded, serrated ramped base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a U-notch elevator sight dovetailed to the barrel. The receiver is mounted with a Tasco 4×32 scope with a duplex reticle and a clear picture. The scope is in Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with a banded forend, straight wrist and straight comb. The rifle is currently fitted with a rubber buttpad, with the original Winchester buttplate included in the box. A nylon sling is mounted to the rifle. The LOP measures 14″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber buttpad. The stocks are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no notable erosion in the bore. In the writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows only light operational and handling wear. The markings are clear. The stocks and metal surfaces remain in Excellent overall condition. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes its factory box and paperwork, a Tasco 4×32 scope, a nylon sling, and the original Winchester buttplate. The rifle is currently fitted with a rubber buttpad.
Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 94 is one of America’s most recognizable sporting rifles, and its association with the .30-30 Winchester cartridge helped establish the combination as one of the quintessential American deer rifles. This Model 94AE XTR is a particularly interesting variation produced for Chevrolet’s 1985 Outdoorsman promotion. Chevrolet offered outdoors-oriented packages in connection with its trucks, with the Hunter’s package incorporating a specially appointed Winchester Model 94AE XTR along with additional hunting equipment. The Chevrolet Outdoorsman medallion inset into the stock immediately distinguishes these rifles from standard production Model 94s.
This example remains in Excellent condition, retaining about 98% of its original finish with an excellent stock, bright bore and sharp rifling. The Tasco 4×32 scope gives the rifle a period-appropriate hunting configuration, while the factory box, paperwork and retained original buttplate add considerably to the completeness of the package. The combination of Winchester’s iconic lever-action design, the classic .30-30 chambering and the unusual Chevrolet promotional connection makes this an especially appealing Model 94 variation.
