Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 9410 is a modern interpretation of the classic Model 1894 lever action, adapted to fire .410 bore shotgun shells while retaining the familiar handling and manual of arms that made the original so iconic. Produced in the early 2000s in New Haven, Connecticut, the 9410 reflects Winchester’s effort to blend traditional lever gun appeal with the versatility of a lightweight shotgun platform. With its tubular magazine and smooth lever action, the 9410 offers a unique crossover between rifle and shotgun, appealing to those who appreciate classic design paired with practical utility.
Chambered in .410 bore for 2 1/2″ shells, this shotgun is suited for light field use, small game, and recreational shooting. The .410 has long been valued for its mild recoil and efficiency in close-range applications, though it requires careful shot placement due to its smaller payload compared to larger gauges. In a lever action format such as the 9410, the cartridge benefits from quick follow-up capability and a familiar manual of operation, making it both approachable and enjoyable in a sporting context.
This example presents in excellent condition, retaining approximately 98% of its original metal finish with only light handling wear. The walnut stocks are likewise in excellent shape, showing minimal signs of use and maintaining strong checkering and clean lines. The bore is bright and appears essentially unfired beyond factory proofing, and the action cycles smoothly with properly functioning safeties. The 24″ barrel with fixed cylinder bore, paired with fiber optic front and adjustable rear sight, provides a practical and versatile sighting setup. Complete with its original box, this 9410 stands as a clean and well-preserved example of Winchester’s modern lever action shotgun offering.
