Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked ” – WINCHESTER MODEL 70 30-06 SPRG. -“, along with Winchester’s New Haven address. The top of the barrel is marked with a “WP” proof mark. The right side of the barrel is marked “- CLASSIC STAINLESS -“. The right side of the receiver is marked with the serial number.
Barrel Length: 24″ Stainless
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade, dovetailed to a checkered ramped base, screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable folding U-notch sight, screwed to a serrated ramped base, screwed to the barrel. The top of the receiver has two weaver rails installed.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered synthetic stock, with a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, black rubber Winchester buttpad, a checkered forend, and sling studs front and rear. The stock has been coated in a brown hard coat. There is a small chip in the coat behind the upper tang. The LOP measures 13 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows light wear, with a few light surface-level imperfections scattered throughout. The checkering is well defined. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light handling wear, with a few light scratches and dings scattered throughout the metal surfaces. Otherwise, the stainless finish is intact. The jeweling on the bolt is vivid and bright. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are tooled, but retain serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 is one of America’s most respected bolt action sporting rifles, long known as “The Rifleman’s Rifle” for its strong action, controlled-round-feed design in the Classic series, reliable three-position safety, and excellent hunting pedigree. This Classic Stainless example is chambered in .30-06 Springfield, one of the most versatile North American hunting cartridges, and is fitted with a 24” stainless barrel, internal magazine with hinged floorplate, factory iron sights, and receiver-mounted Weaver rails for optics. Its stainless construction and synthetic stock make it a practical hunting rifle for adverse weather, while the Classic Model 70 action gives it added appeal for Winchester collectors and serious hunters alike.
This rifle is in Very Good overall condition, retaining about 96% of its original stainless metal finish with light handling wear, a few light scratches and dings, vivid bolt jeweling, clear markings, and tooled but serviceable screw heads. The checkered synthetic stock has been coated in a brown hard coat and shows light wear with a few scattered surface imperfections, but there are no chips or cracks, the checkering remains well defined, and the stock fits tightly to the barreled action. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10 in this writer’s opinion. The action and safety function correctly, and while we did not fire this rifle, it presents as a clean and capable Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless in the ever-popular .30-06 Springfield chambering.
