Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 EXTRA LIGHT RIFLE – WINCHESTER LICENSEE.” The right side of the barrel is marked “U.S. REPEATING ARMS CO., INC., NEW HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / JAPAN MIROKU.” The top of the barrel near the receiver is marked “CAL. .45-70 GOVT.” The upper tang is marked “WINCHESTER / Model 1886.” The serial number “008SLR0892” is marked on the lower tang.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a semi-buckhorn leaf with ramp dovetailed to the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle has a smooth walnut stock and forend with a straight grip and blued steel buttplate. The forend has a steel nose cap. The wood shows only minor handling marks. There is a notable scratch on the right side of the forend. The LOP measures approximately 13.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows only light handling marks. There are no notable scratches or dents in the finish. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
