Our Assessment: This Winchester 1885 Limited Series BPCR is a modern Miroku-made falling block single-shot rifle produced for Winchester Repeating Arms in 2005 and chambered in .45-90 WCF. It follows the classic 1885 High Wall pattern and is configured for black powder cartridge rifle use, with a 34″ barrel, lever-operated falling block action, single trigger, and traditional target-rifle furniture. The rifle is well suited to BPCR-style shooting, especially with its windage-adjustable globe front sight with spirit level, tang-mounted elevation and windage adjustable peep sight staff, and drilled-and-tapped barrel and receiver for optics mounts. The .45-90 WCF chambering adds appeal for shooters who want greater case capacity and long-range black powder cartridge performance beyond the more common .45-70.
Condition is very strong overall. The rifle retains approximately 97% of its original blued finish, with only light scratches and minor handling and operational wear noted. The screw heads remain sharp and the markings are clear, supporting the impression of a carefully maintained rifle. The checkered walnut stock set is also in Very Good condition, featuring a schnabel forend, capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb with cheekpiece, and checkered buttplate. There are scattered light scratches and compression dents, but no chips or cracks, leaving the rifle with a clean and attractive presentation.
Mechanically, the action is described as functioning correctly, and the bore is another major strength, rating 9/10 with a bright interior, sharp rifling, no erosion, and only minor fouling. The main limitations are sight-related: the front globe sight insert is missing, and the tang peep sight staff does not include an eyecup. Those are relatively manageable issues for a shooter intending to configure the rifle to personal preference, but they should be noted when assessing completeness. Overall, this is a desirable modern Winchester 1885 BPCR rifle with excellent finish retention, strong bore condition, quality Miroku manufacture, and a useful long-range target setup, with its primary drawbacks limited to missing sight components and the absence of box, paperwork, or accessories.
