Our Assessment: This Winchester 1885 Limited Series BPCR Target Rifle is a modern Miroku-made single-shot falling block rifle produced for Winchester Repeating Arms in 2007 and chambered in .45-90 WCF. It is built in the classic 1885 High Wall style and configured for black powder cartridge rifle use, with a 30″ barrel, lever-operated falling block action, single trigger, and tang drilled and tapped for a peep sight. The receiver and barrel are also drilled and tapped for scope bases, giving the rifle flexibility for either traditional target sights or optical mounting. The .45-90 WCF chambering adds considerable appeal for BPCR enthusiasts, as it offers more case capacity than .45-70 while remaining tied to the historic black powder target and sporting-rifle tradition.
Condition is a strong point on this example. The rifle retains approximately 97% of its original blue finish, with only light scratches and minor handling and operational wear noted. The screw heads remain sharp, and the markings are clear, both of which support the impression of a carefully used and well-preserved rifle. The checkered walnut stock set is also in Very Good condition, with a schnabel forend, capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb with cheekpiece, and checkered buttplate. There are scattered light scratches and compression dents, but no chips or cracks, leaving the rifle with a clean and attractive overall presentation.
Mechanically, the action is described as functioning correctly, and the bore is excellent, rating 9.5/10 with a bright interior, sharp rifling, and no erosion. The primary drawback is that the sights have been removed, so the rifle will require replacement target sights or optics before it is ready for its intended precision use. The absence of box, paperwork, and accessories is another minor limitation from a collector standpoint, but it does not materially affect the rifleās utility. Overall, this is a very strong modern Winchester 1885 BPCR Target rifle with excellent bore condition, high remaining finish, attractive walnut furniture, and desirable .45-90 chambering, best suited for a shooter or collector focused on modern high-quality single-shot target rifles.
