Our Assessment: This Webley & Scott manufactured Mark IV double-action top-break revolver is chambered for .455 Webley and is an interesting specimen. The Mark IV was adopted by the British military in 1899 and saw extensive use in the Boer War. In addition to military service, they saw use around the empire, including this one which has markings identifying it as issued to the Citizen Military Forces in the State of Western Australia. The CMF was fairly new, having been established in 1901, with their Webley purchases made in 1903 and 1904. Many Mk. IVs that made their way to America had the rear of the cylinder ground to chamber .45 ACP, but this example was spared this modification. This revolver has matching numbered parts, much of original finish remaining, a surprisingly good bore and strong mechanics. Its condition and Western Australia markings will make it a solid option for fans of historical firearms. Good luck on your bid!
