Sights / Optics: There is a brass bead mounted to the front of the rib. The top of the rib is finely checkered to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered select walnut with a finger-grooved forend, rosewood-capped pistol grip with a white diamond insert on the bottom, straight comb and a ventilated brown rubber Weatherby recoil pad. The stocks have only a few scattered light marks. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Drop at comb is approximately 1 1/2″, drop at comb 2 1/2″. The LOP measures 14 1/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The pad has minor wear and discoloration, remaining fairly supple. The stocks are in Fine-Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue and Coin with Gold Accents
Finish Originality: Original, serialized parts are matching.
Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion in the bores. In this writer’s opinion, the bores rate 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The balance is mostly in light wear on the barrels from the forend, concealed when assembled. The action shows light operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrel lockup is tight with no play to the frame. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes with a Browning luggage case.
Our Assessment: Though perhaps best known for their rifles, Weatherby has also produced a number of fine-quality shotguns over the years, and this is an excellent example. The Regency with its dual-lug greener crossbolt lock makes for a strong action and is capable of shooting 2 3/4? shells, with a recoil pad to match. This example is one of the Italian guns produced by Antonio Zoli with beautiful engraving in its coin-finished receiver. The wood is all Weatherby, with beautiful grain and a high gloss finish. The gun is in Fine condition, appearing to have seen limited use with most wear consistent with disassembly/reassembly. With its quality craftsmanship, this is a shotgun that is very versatile, able to perform nearly any task you could ask of a 12 gauge shotgun. It doesn’t hurt that it’s gorgeous, too!
