Markings: The left of the chamber is marked “USE ONLY / 270 WIN”. The left of the receiver is marked “MARK V”, “Weatherby / PASO ROBLES, CA”, and “MADE IN U.S.A.”. The underside of the bolt handle is hand inscribed “7912”. The chamber ring is marked with the serial number. The bottom of the trigger guard is marked “W” in gold-tone color fill.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. Equipped to the top of the receiver via a two-piece leupold rail system and two rings is a Leupold VX-3 scope with 6.5-20x magnification and a Duplex reticle. The scope shows no significant wear or damage and rates in about Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is checkered walnut with rosewood nose and grip caps, pistol grip, monte-carlo comb with cheekpiece, solid black rubber Decelerator recoil pad and sling swivel studs front and rear. There is a tan diamond inlay in the bottom of the grip. The imperfections are minimal and include two small marks through the finish on either side of the front sling stud and a couple of light draglines on the right side of the buttstock. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is sharp. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The pad has minor wear and is still supple. Overall, the stock is in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is some extremely faint erosion infrequently scattered in the grooves.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is light handling and operational wear but no significant imperfections. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a quality Weatherby rifle made right here in the U.S.A. This Mark V Deluxe rifle has a high luster blued finish with a fancy checkered walnut stock. The stock has a Monte Carlo comb, cheekpiece, rosewood grip cap and nose cap, and a soft Decelerator marked recoil pad. The 24” barrel is chambered for the .270 Winchester cartridge and has a bright bore. The .270 Winchester is a suitable cartridge for hunting deer-sized game at open ranges making it suitable for plains game and mountain hunting. Standard ballistics tests show that the .270 is highly appropriate for hunting screeching boars and pigs. It may be chambered in standard length actions and the optimum barrel size is considered to be 24 inches. The rifle is in Excellent with about 99% of its metal finish remaining, minor wear in the stock, the bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. Please see our photos and good luck!
