Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “USE ONLY / 270 WIN”. The left side of the receiver is marked “MARK V Weatherby MADE IN U.S.A.”, along with Weatherby’s Atascadero, CA address. The right side of the receiver is marked with the serial number. 

Barrel Length: 24″ Stainless w/Blued Fluting. 

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with a two-piece scope base and 1″ rings for optics. 

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece composite stock, with a matte gel coat finish with spiderweb accents. The stock features a semi-pistol grip, fluted monte carlo comb with cheekpiece, a black rubber Decelerator buttpad, and sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows light wear, with a couple spots on the right side of the buttstock with thinning finish. Otherwise, the finish is largely intact. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Very Good to Fine condition. 

Type of Finish: Stainless, Blued, Black. 

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some light fouling present. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.75/10. 

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with light thinning of the finish on the leading edges of the floorplate and trigger guard. There is operational wear on the bolt and on the friction surfaces of the action. There are a few minor scratches and dings scattered throughout the metal surfaces. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition. 

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope mounts and rings as mentioned above. 

Our Assessment: Weatherby’s Mark V has long been the company’s flagship bolt-action rifle, known for its strong action, distinctive Weatherby styling, and association with high-performance sporting rifles. The Ultra Lightweight variant was built with field carry in mind, offering a lighter composite-stocked configuration for hunters who spend time covering ground. This Mark V Ultra Lightweight is chambered in .270 Winchester, a classic flat-shooting hunting cartridge respected for deer, antelope, sheep, and other medium-game use thanks to its manageable recoil and proven downrange performance. This example features a 24″ stainless barrel with blued fluting, composite spiderweb stock with Monte Carlo comb and cheekpiece, Decelerator buttpad, and two-piece scope base with 1″ rings. The lightweight Weatherby configuration, stainless/fluted barrel, optic-ready setup, and versatile .270 chambering should appeal to buyers looking for a practical mountain, field, or general-purpose hunting rifle.

This rifle rates in Very Good overall condition, retaining about 95% of its original stainless, blued, and black metal finish. The composite stock rates in Very Good to Fine condition, showing light wear with a couple spots of thinning finish on the right side of the buttstock, while the finish is otherwise largely intact, the stock fits tightly, and there are no chips or cracks.
