Bore Condition: The lands are bright. The grooves are semi bright. The rifling is well defined. There is fouling in the bore. There is erosion in the grooves near the muzzle. Our gauge shows an ME of about 0.3.
In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 7.5 out of 10.
Many military and C&R eligible weapons have bores that will show erosion. This is not only due to age but to the fact that corrosive primers were commonly used in ammunition worldwide. For example, the U.S. used corrosive ammunition throughout WWII. The U.S. military did not begin to phase out corrosive-primed ammunition until the 1950s.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The barrel shows a few small scrapes. The trigger guard shows a spot of oxidation. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads show moderate use. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The extractor does not remove a cartridge from the chamber. An alternative bolt worked fine in the rifle.
The action functions otherwise. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the installed scope as described.

Our Assessment: The 9-lug Weatherby MK V is considered one of the strongest actions ever made, which is nice when you’re shooting Weatherby Magnum cartridges. This Mark V Custom Deluxe is chambered in .300 Weatherby Magnum. This rifle can be used to hunt anything in North America and can even be used for some thinner-skinned African plains game. This rifle was manufactured in West Germany back in 1971. The rifle looks impressive and is topped with a nice Redfield scope. If you’re looking for one rifle to hunt just about anything, this is the rifle to bid on.

…Now go shoot something!
