Markings: The right side of the shank is marked “USE ONLY / WEATHERBY / .300W.M.”. The right side of the chamber ring is marked with the serial number “H176083”. The left side of the receiver is marked “MARK V / U.S. PATENT NO.3,013,355”, “Weatherby / SOUTH GATE, CALIF”, “MADE IN JAPAN”, and three pin motifs at the rear. The bottom of the bolt handle is marked “083”.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. Equipped to the top of the receiver via a two-piece rail system and two rings is a Weatherby Supreme scope with 3-9x magnification and a duplex reticle. There is some stubborn dried grease on the front edge of the scope. The lenses are crystal clear. The scope rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece deluxe wood with laser carved oak leaf patterns, rosewood capped forend and pistol grip, raised Monte Carlo comb w/ cheek piece, sling stud front and rear, and a brown ventilated Weatherby recoil pad. There are some light handling marks but no significant imperfections. The laser carving is crisp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The pad is soft with scattered light rub wear. The stock is in Fine-Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp and deep. There is no erosion in the bore, just a small amount of scattered light fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are a few small spots of stubborn dried oil but no significant wear or damage. There is light operational wear on the bolt. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The previously mentioned scope is included as well as a Gun Guard hard protective carrying case.
Our Assessment: The Weatherby Mark V has a long history, in production continuously since 1957 and has been produced by several manufacturers including Howa of Japan and Sauer of Germany. This example was made in Japan by Howa. This Mark V Lazermark is chambered .300 Weatherby Magnum and features a deluxe wood stock with laser carved oak leaf patterning. The Mark V was originally designed as a rifle that could withstand the sheer power of the Weatherby cartridge assortment, and while this rifle is beautiful, it is in equal parts a devastating and capable tool, the epitome of its purpose. In overall Excellent condition, this rifle is a true hunter’s rifle that will be a prized part of any collection, but most importantly, yours. Please see our photos and good luck!
