The stock’s finish is largely intact, and the wood grain is aesthetically pleasing. The checkering is mostly well defined, with a few dings in the checkering on the wrist. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Good to Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 80% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows thinning of the finish around the muzzle brake, very worn finish on the floorplate and bolt knob, along with small spots of minor thinning finish throughout the barrel. There are light scratches and dings scattered throughout all of the metal surfaces. The barrel shows minor surface corrosion starting to form towards the muzzle brake. The jeweling on the bolt and magazine follower is vivid and bright, with light operational wear on the bolt. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are lightly tooled, but all retain strong and serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Good to Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope and scope covers as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: Weatherby’s Mark V Deluxe has long represented the company’s flagship sporting rifle line, combining Weatherby’s strong multi-lug action, distinctive Monte Carlo styling, and high-velocity magnum chamberings. This left-handed Weatherby Custom Shop Mark V Deluxe is chambered in .300 Weatherby Magnum, one of Roy Weatherby’s signature cartridges, known for flat trajectory, high velocity, and strong performance on deer, elk, moose, and other large game at extended ranges. This example features a 24″ barrel, measuring 25 1/2″ with the radial muzzle brake installed, factory-engraved floorplate marked “Weatherby Custom,” checkered walnut stock with Weatherby styling, and a West German Zeiss 3-9×36 scope with clear glass in Conetrol mounts. The left-hand action, Custom Shop engraving, Japanese manufacture, Zeiss optic, and classic .300 Weatherby Magnum chambering should appeal to Weatherby collectors and left-handed hunters looking for a distinctive magnum sporting rifle.

This rifle rates in Good to Very Good overall condition, retaining about 80% of its original blued finish. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10 in this writer’s opinion. The walnut stock rates in Good to Very Good condition, showing scattered scratches, dings, scuffs, and compressions, with attractive grain, mostly well-defined checkering, tight fit, and no chips or cracks. The metal shows thinning around the muzzle brake, heavy finish wear on the floorplate and bolt knob, small areas of thinning on the barrel, scattered scratches and dings, and minor surface corrosion beginning near the muzzle brake, while the bolt and magazine follower jeweling remain vivid and bright. The Zeiss scope rates in Good condition with clear glass and light exterior wear, and includes its original scope cover.
