Our Assessment: Ultra Light Arms was started by Melvin Forbes in 1985 and over the course of the last nearly 40 years has become known for their lightweight, immensely accurate rifles. After a short period of being owned by Colt and another endeavor that similarly failed, today the company is known as New Ultra Light Arms. Using innovative techniques with cutting edge materials, Forbes was able to create a rifle with the accuracy of a benchrest rifle at a fraction of the weight. With a very limited number of total rifles made since the company began, Ultra Light Arms rifles are a target rifle and a collector’s piece all wrapped up in one.

While this rifle has some wear around the edges, it has plenty of life left in it. Chambered in .30-06 and with a weight of only 7 pounds (scope included), this rifle would make for the perfect hunting rifle. But, the renowned Ultra Light Arms accuracy also gives the option for using it as strictly a target rifle if you so desire. It truly is an all-purpose sort of set up. Please see our photos.
