Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed and screw set to the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch elevator sight dovetailed and screw set to the barrel. The tang is installed with an adjustable peep sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are smooth wood with a capped forearm, straight grip, straight comb, and a crescent steel buttplate. There are a few scratches, scuffs, and compressions. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 12 7/8” from the front of the trigger to the end of the buttplate. There is light wear on the heel and toe and a small patch of corrosion near the toe. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some light scratches. Other than that the finish is strong and complete throughout. There is some rust on the right side of the receiver near the wrist. There is intermittent oxidation on the receiver. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lever safety and lever lock are present. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be required to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Uberti Model 1873 is a well-regarded modern reproduction of Winchester’s legendary Model 1873 lever action rifle, offering classic Old West styling with modern Italian manufacturing. This example was imported by Cabela’s and manufactured in 2002, as indicated by its BS date code. Chambered in .44-40 Winchester, one of the classic cartridges associated with the original 1873, this rifle has strong appeal for cowboy action shooters, lever action enthusiasts, and collectors of high-quality Winchester-pattern reproductions. The 30” octagonal barrel, full-length magazine tube, case colored receiver, crescent steel buttplate, and tang-mounted adjustable peep sight give it a distinctive long-rifle configuration with excellent traditional appeal.
This rifle is in about Very Good overall condition, retaining about 97% of its original metal finish with light scratches, some intermittent oxidation, and some rust on the right side of the receiver near the wrist. The smooth wood stocks show a few scratches, scuffs, and compression marks, with no chips or cracks, and rate in about Very Good condition. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, and the lever safety and lever lock are present. We have not fired this rifle, but it presents as a handsome and desirable .44-40 Model 1873 reproduction with a long octagonal barrel and useful tang peep sight.
