Our Assessment: Ladies and gentlemen we have a piece coming through our shop that stands out far above the rest. The UZI is one of the most loved and iconic submachine guns in all of firearms history. It truly is one of the most remarkable firearms ever devised from the minds of intelligent firearms engineers. The Israeli UZI was born out of an impossible fight against the onslaught of AK47’s.
The Uzi was the brainchild of Israeli IDF officer Uziel “Uzi” Gal who invented the gun in 1948. Gal did not want his brainchild to be named after him but the Israeli government did so anyway. Following his military career, Gal would remain a firearm designer for the remainder of his life, eventually settling in the US. The Uzi entered service in the IDF beginning in the 1950s and in the 1960s it began to be exported around the world. It was the most widely proliferated submachine gun by the 1980s. This submachine gun had a number of conversion kits produced to meet American civilian market firearms regulations, but they were all restricted by the first Bush administration’s 1989 assault gun ban.
This is an excellent, like new original IMI/Action Arms UZI submachine gun that was converted by a company, into a fully automatic UZI type submachine gun. Based on their continued use by the Israelis during the numerous wars in the late 1960s and early 1970s in the Middle East, the UZI SMG is probably one of the most reliable and easily recognizable of the early submachine guns. This beautiful SMG was professionally converted by the Group industries Company with the receiver and trigger group being remarked and then professionally refinished in the original matching Israeli parkerized finish. The receiver has had the “GROUP” name elegantly added to the right side of the trigger group is correctly marked with the export type markings of “A, F and S” for Automatic, Semi-automatic and Safe. The original 16 inch barrel was correctly shortened to the current 10.2 inches, which duplicates the original UZI configuration. The excellent SMG is complete with the original IMI/UZI blue shipping box, the original short functioning barrel, the original canvas sling, instruction manual, and one 25 round magazine.
Very fine as converted with 99% of the parkerized finish. The markings are clear and sharp. The plastic components are like new. The box and various accessories are also like new. This is an excellent addition to your SMG collection.
