Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade double pinned to the rib. The rear sight is a fully adjustable square notch sight pinned to the top strap.
Grip Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered walnut target stocks with medallions. There are light handling marks and the checkering is sharp. The grips rate in about excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion and for the age, the bore rates a 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. This revolver has seen minimal use over the years and remains in outstanding condition with a couple of light handling marks, faint edge wear, and a few scattered tiny hairline scratches. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about fine plus-excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a more thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: In 1955, the United States launched the first nuclear-powered submarine, West Germany joined NATO, and Colt began shipping the finest precision combat and target revolver ever made. Each revolver was hand-tuned at the factory and this attention to detail shows both cosmetically and in operation. With barrel lengths ranging from 2.5″ to 8″ and with some of the finest machining and finishing ever seen in the industry, the Python has earned its reputation and continues to be sought after to this day. The Colt Python revolvers have since been put back into production, but don’t come close to the originals, so the price for these fantastic weapons is just going to continue to appreciate. The python has been reported as one of the best investments a man could have made since 1957. Forbes has said the revolver has done better than Dow Jones, the price of gold, and even oil. The revolvers by themselves are becoming harder and harder to find, making it difficult to bring oneself to actually fire a Python. This revolver is a 6″ example from 1959 which appears to have seen little to no use over the years with about 98% of its metal finish remaining and retaining a great bore and strong mechanics.
