Our Assessment: The Swiss Model 1882 Ordnance Revolver was adopted as a standard service sidearm by the Swiss military in the late nineteenth century and remained in use well into the twentieth century. Manufactured at Waffenfabrik Bern, the Model 1882 reflects the precision and craftsmanship associated with Swiss arms production, with tight tolerances and careful finishing. Chambered in 7.5mm Swiss Ordnance, the cartridge was specifically developed for these revolvers and is closely tied to Swiss military service. Production continued into the early twentieth century, with later examples such as this one reflecting refinements in manufacture while retaining the original design.

This example was produced in 1925 and retains about 98 percent of its original blue finish with light handling wear, scattered small scratches, and minor thinning along the leading edges and front of the barrel along with a visible turn line on the cylinder. The grooved wood grip panels show minimal wear with light handling marks but remain free of cracks or chips, rating in Fine condition overall. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and light fouling present, rating 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly with a crisp single action break and a heavier double action pull, and the cylinder locks up well with only slight play. The revolver includes a leather holster with shoulder sling and presents as a fine example of a Swiss military revolver from the early twentieth century.
