Our Assessment: The Mini-14 was introduced to the world of firearms in the 70’ and became an instant classic. The small profile, beloved M-14 design miniaturized, and high velocity rounds created a unique niche as these guns were often loaded into the back of trucks in the backcountry and taken to do all the rough things ranchers needed to get done. The name of the Ranch Rifle served well as it was hardy, reliable, and everything you could need when working the rugged terrain and fighting off predators. Only one complaint arose from the crowds of Mini-14 owners – it wasn’t very accurate. The answer came from Ruger in the form of the newly designed Mini-14 Target Ranch Rifle .223. The upgraded profile of the weapon is something to be marveled at. The barrel was given an extra 3 and a half inches, beefed up to .78 diameter, six groove rifling, 1:9 RH twist, all wrapped up in heavy hammer forged stainless steel goodness. The front of the barrel was also given a harmonic-dampening weight that can be adjusted up and down the barrel for the perfect counterbalance custom to the user’s preference. The people were asking for a more accurate rifle and Ruger dished out something spectacular and over-the-top in all the best ways. This rifle was made to be pinpoint accurate and pinpoint accuracy is what it excels at. Claim a new favorite rifle to your collection and make that trip to the range all the more memorable. Happy Bidding!
