Our Assessment: The Ruger Mini-14 is a classic American semi-automatic sporting rifle, known for its Garand/M14-inspired action layout, compact handling, and practical .223 Remington chambering. This example was manufactured in 1981, which is consistent with Ruger’s serial-number history for the 182-prefix Mini-14 series. It is configured with an 18.5” barrel, stainless finish, black blade front sight, adjustable rear peep sight, detachable magazine feed, and a smooth hardwood stock with metal folding buttstock, vented forend, semi-pistol grip, and sling rings.

This Mini-14 is in Very Good condition overall, retaining about 96% of its original metal finish with light handling and storage wear, scratches, and light surface rust forming throughout, mostly on the folding buttstock and a few small parts. The front sight post has turned to patina. The stock rates in Very Good condition, showing a few light scratches and compression marks, with surface rust and light corrosion pitting on the folding buttstock, but no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, no erosion, and light fouling, rating 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action and safety function correctly, the markings are clear, and the screw heads are sharp. This rifle comes with three 20-round magazines and should appeal to Ruger collectors, Mini-14 enthusiasts, and buyers looking for a desirable early stainless Mini-14 with folding stock configuration.
