Our Assessment: The Ruger Vaquero is one of the most successful modern single-action revolvers inspired by the classic Colt Single Action Army profile, combining traditional fixed-sight styling with Ruger’s modern strength and transfer-bar safety system. Chambered in .45 Colt, this 1994-production example was made during the early years of the original large-frame Vaquero series, making it especially appealing to Ruger collectors and shooters who prefer the heavier original frame. The 7.5-inch barrel, stainless finish, fixed sights, and smooth antler grip panels give this revolver strong Old West appeal with modern Ruger durability. This example remains in Excellent condition, retaining approximately 98% of its original stainless finish with light handling and operational wear and a crisp cylinder turn line. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no visible erosion, rating 9.5/10. The fitted smooth antler grip panels are not original to this revolver, but they remain in Excellent condition with no notable handling wear, chips, or cracks. The screw heads are sharp, the pins are undamaged, and the markings remain clear. The revolver includes a Ruger cardboard box.
For Ruger collectors, cowboy-action shooters, and fans of traditional single-action revolvers, this stainless Vaquero offers a desirable combination of early production, classic .45 Colt chambering, and long-barrel balance. The .45 Colt cartridge remains one of the most iconic American revolver rounds, while the original large-frame Vaquero is prized for its strength and traditional appearance. With its excellent condition, attractive antler grips, stainless construction, and included Ruger box, this revolver is a strong addition to a Ruger collection or a handsome shooter for the range or field. -R.E.
