Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1 Garand was manufactured in 1955 and is chambered in .30-06 Springfield, fitted with a Springfield Armory National Match marked barrel dated March 1955. Designed by John C. Garand, the M1 Garand became the standard U.S. service rifle of World War II and the Korean War, earning a reputation for rugged reliability, speed of fire, and battlefield effectiveness. George S. Patton famously called it “the greatest battle implement ever devised,” a tribute to the rifle’s lasting military significance. The National Match barrel adds an additional layer of desirability, reflecting the rifle’s potential for enhanced target accuracy and competition use.

This example has been bedded to the stock, a traditional accurizing method that improves consistency between the action and stock. It is also fitted with a Weaver-style scope mount and leather cheekpiece, giving the rifle a practical marksman-oriented configuration. The trigger is especially noteworthy, featuring a refined two-stage pull with a very clean break, an important characteristic for precision shooting. Overall, this rifle represents an appealing blend of classic Garand history and thoughtful target-oriented enhancements.
