Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade sight with a protective shroud, the rear sight is an adjustable elevator sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a smooth wooden stock with semi pistol grip, and steel buttplate. The LOP is 13 ½” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are several scratches and dents in the wood. The stock rates in Very Fine Overall Condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi bright and the rifling is sharp. There is erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 6/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 50% of its metal finish. There are scratches on the magazine, barrel and receiver and they are starting to patina. The screw heads are lightly tooled and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this C&R rifle rates in about Fine condition. Please see photos for a better understanding of this rifle’s condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Krag Model 1896 was the rifle used by the U.S military in the late 19th century. It was an improved version of the Model 1892 and was primarily used during the Spanish-American War and the Philippine-American War.
