Markings: The receiver is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / MODEL 1903 / 1271579.” The barrel is marked “4-44” with a flaming bomb proof and “H.S.” for High Standard, indicating a WWII-era barrel replacement.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to a banded base. The rear sight is a ladder-type adjustable sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a 2 piece wood stock featuring a steel buttplate, straight comb, straight grip, grooved forend and 3 sling mounts. The LOP is 13” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are handling marks and scuffs consistent with use and its age. There are no chips or cracks. The stock rates in Very Good condition.
Type of Finish: Parkerized
Finish Originality: Arsenal Refinished.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright, and the rifling is sharp. There is Moderate erosion and fouling present. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 70% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows thinning, edge wear, and scattered marks from handling and use. The screw heads are serviceable but show light tooling marks. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
