Sights / Optics: The National Match front sight on the M1A™ Scout rifle features a 0.062″ crisp blade. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight. This rifle also features a 4″ picatinny rail for the mounting of optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a checkered composite FDE stock with composite upper handguard and rubber butt pad. The stock also has two sling swivels. The LOP measures 13.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt pad. The butt pad is soft and pliable and shows only minor handling. The rest of the stock set shows minor handling and some scrapes/rub wear in the magazine well. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the stock is in Very Good+ condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is minor fouling present in edges of the grooves of the bore. The muzzle device shows verdigris and some carbon in the ports from use. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: The rifle retains 99% of its metal finish. The friction surfaces of the bolt and receiver show minor rub wear. The rest of the rifle shows only minor marks and handling. There is some verdigris present in some of the recesses around the exterior of the gas system. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in about Very Good+ near Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory Model AA9120 M1A Scout, manufactured in 2018, is chambered in .308 Winchester and features an 18-inch barrel fitted with a factory compensator. Based on the classic M14 pattern, the M1A Scout configuration offers a more compact and versatile platform while retaining the proven reliability and power of the original design. The rifle is equipped with a forward-mounted “scout style” Picatinny rail, allowing for the mounting of long eye relief optics in keeping with the scout rifle concept.
This example is fitted with a flat dark earth composite stock with a rubber butt pad, providing durability and recoil mitigation in a lightweight package. It includes a 10-round magazine, making it compliant with capacity-restricted jurisdictions while still offering practical usability. Overall, this M1A Scout represents a modernized interpretation of the M14 platform, combining traditional battle rifle heritage with contemporary features suited for practical field use.
