Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON” The left side of the frame is marked with a Smith & Wesson logo. The right side of the barrel is marked “38 S&W STG” The right side of the frame is marked “MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS” The crane cut is marked “34915” The butt of the frame is marked “64832”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade, the rear sight is a square notch groove cut into the top of the frame.
The Smith & Wesson letter states that this revolver was shipped with a ramped barrel. It is possible that this barrel has been repaired or replaced which is why the sights don’t match the letter.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece checkered wood grips with silver colored medallions. There is light handling wear, the checkering is defined. There are light scratches present. The grips rate in excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. There is a solid ring present in the bore that is consistent with factory defects that have been recorded by collectors and Smith & Wesson, In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8.5/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are scratches on the barrel, cylinder and frame. There is a turn line on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp, the markings are soft but clear. Overall this revolver rates in excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Smith & Wesson S&W Terrier Pre Model 32 was shipped in 1952. It features a 4 screw frame, checkered walnut grips, and a 2 Inch barrel. The barrel appears to have been repaired or replaced at some point because the letter of authenticity states that the revolver shipped with a ramped sight.
