Our Assessment: The Smith & Wesson Model 329NG AirLite Sc was introduced at the 2009 shot show as part of the company’s innovative lightweight revolver line. It blends traditional large-frame power with modern materials technology — resulting in a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio. It weighs only 29 ounces.
Built on the N-frame and chambered in .44 Magnum, the 329 Night Guard (NG) utilizes a scandium-alloy frame, titanium cylinder, and steel barrel liner to dramatically reduce weight while maintaining magnum-level performance. The model was designed with backcountry defense and field carry in mind, offering powerful ballistics in a revolver that weighs substantially less than traditional all-steel counterparts.
This 2008 example retains approximately 99% of its original finish with only very light handling marks present. The cylinder shows a faint turn line. The scandium frame and barrel shroud remain clean with sharp markings, and the titanium cylinder shows very little operational wear. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and minor fouling in the grooves, rating approximately 9.5/10 in this writer’s opinion.
