Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”, the right is marked “44 MAGNUM”. The side plate has S&W’s monogram logo, the right side of the frame has the four-line Marcas Registradas address. The yoke cut is marked with the serial and models numbers. The butt is marked with the serial number. The yoke and the sides of the grip frame have inspector marks.
Barrel Length: 6 1/2″ Pinned
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp blade with a red insert set on a ramped base integral to the barrel rib. The rear sight is a flat top, square notched and white outlined leaf in a base that is micrometer click adjustable for windage and elevation.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered Goncalo Alves target stocks with S&W medallions and a football cut. There are some little nicks and dings, the most noticeable are on the bottom faces. There is some worn finish on the bottom face of the left panel. There are hairline cracks on the back of each panel where the backstrap widens into the frame. There are light handling marks. The checkering is strong with a few nicked peaks. Overall, the grips are in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There are a few spots of faint pinprick surface erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 90% of its metal finish. The cylinder has some scattered spots of surface oxidation and a few little nicks through the finish. There is thinning on the edges. There are some touchups along the rear of the cylinder. The cylinder has a turn line. The frame and barrel also have some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. The left side of the frame has a spot of finish loss that has been touched up below the rear of the cylinder. There is some finish loss on some of the edges, most noticeable at the muzzle. The muzzle also has a few spots of dark discoloration from previous oxidation. There are a couple hairline scratches on the barrel. There are some spots of dark discoloration from previous oxidation on the hammer and trigger. There is some light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp to lightly worn with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks up with light play on each chamber when the trigger is depressed. The double action trigger is smooth and the single action is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is Smith & Wesson’s world famous Model 29-2 built on the N-Frame with a square butt. This revolver has a beautiful blue finish, with wide serrated case-colored trigger and wide checkered hammer. This revolver is a little large for defense, it would make a fantastic gun for handgun hunting and where it will really shine is in silhouette matches. With its adjustable rear sight and nice trigger, this revolver will make short work of chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams. No collection is complete without a Smith & Wesson 29.
